The highlight was to come across a turtle chased by a sea lion in our second dive at the Christmas Reef. They came from behind minutes after we defended. Steve was securing the anchor and I was getting the camera ready. I couldn’t believe it at the beginning because the turtle swam so fast like a fish even the sea lion couldn’t keep up. The turtle also made sharp turns to confuse the sea lion. Eventually the sea lion gave up and went up, and the turtle disappeared. The picture wasn’t great but it was a cool encounter.

Weiwei joined me today for a couple awesome dives off Point Loma

We had sunny skies, flat seas 64º surface waters,and no currents today .

I was surprised because of the King Tides , but conditions were great.

Dive #1 was at a spot called “The Badlands ”

Vis was in the 25-30 range, and temps at depth were only 4º cooler at depth (60º )
