South Wall Night Dive

Tonight the shores, the waves were pretty small but a lot of movement in the shallow. I even felt hard to walk straight in shallow water. The visibility in the shallow was basically none. But finally it opened up pretty clear in the canyon. What a nice change!

Decided to check out the south wall tonight. Shortly after I dropped down, there were a pair of mating yellow crabs. But before I could get a good pictures, all the tuna crabs came in and went super crazy. I was a bit disappointed. But soon there came another pair, nicely tucked in a crevice.

Soon the tuna crab came but this time they made the picture a bit more interesting. I noticed that the crabs were pretty relaxed at the beginning when I just found them. But quickly they posed a defensive posture and obviously got annoyed either by my light or the jumping tuna crabs.

I continued south and came across a few big tongue fish. They just came out from nowhere and glided by.

I followed this one a little bit and was lucky to get a few shots of it flying by.

Then there came the Pleurobranchaea. I found pictures of this sea slug pretty dull, but they were good subjects to practice wide-angle closeups.

Toward south, there were quite a few baby horn sharks. Then there came more yellow crabs. This is a single female carrying eggs.

Not far from it, there was another pair. Pretty cool encounters.

At the canyon, the tuna crabs still hold tight. In a few spots I was totally engulfed by the tuna crab shower and had to escape. Seems like the clear water is coming back.
