Coronado Islands are famous for sea lions watching. These animals on the islands are particularly curious to divers and they love to play with divers underwater. But after so many dives at La Jolla Shores and the cove, I am maxed out with the sea lion cuteness. A few of sea lions got too excited and they started to bite my suit – that’s no fun. Plus, taking pictures of sea lions with a point-and-shoot camera is really painful. So all I did was to take a short video at the beginning of the dive, and that’s about it.

What got my excited was to look for things hidden around the big boulders. From the outside, those boulders looked dull – covered by sea urchins and different star fish, typical underwater scene. But with a closer look, there were a lot going on. Under nearly every boulders there were moray eels – they looked really cool with cleaning shrimps. Scorpion fish leaning along the edge of the boulder always gives good pictures. But my buddy Mike is good at finding a lot more. The bright yellow Peltodoris mullineri was the highlight of the dive, among many other nudibranchs.
Three dives were felt really short, and the day passed as if it just got started. What a fun trip!
