A Night Dive at La Jolla Shores

It was nice to kick out with gorgeous sunset at the shores. The surface was calm like a lake. The shallow was murky but the viz opened up at the canyon. I think there was a hydroid spawning going on so there were lots of stuff in the water column…cold 51F.

It’s definitely a night of San Diego Dorid! This one was on the canyon wall. I didn’t see the pistol shrimp during the dive and only spotted it when I looked at the picture on my computer.

Along the dive, I saw quite a few of them.

Another beautiful encounter was a few Christmas tree worms with brilliant colors and shapes.

It was a few years ago when I saw one on the north wall.

I spent most of the time with the Diomedes Aglajid and had to rush to leave. On my way back, I saw this Dirona picta right on the top of algae. But I don’t have much time to spend with it.

What a great dive!
