La Jolla Shores Night Dive

The dive condition remained perfect so headed out to the shores tonight. I still had the same plan in mind – checking out the nudies in the shallow. The visibility was very good. On my way out to the canyon, I spotted quite a few Price’s Aeolid on the grass. Not many nudies on the canyon wall, except for a few white spotted porostome. On the way back, again I found a baby sea hare. (yay!)

Tried very hard to get a few pictures. When I get closer to the shores, I saw for the second time the pack of Armina californica. Overall, I saw quite a few nudies.

The kelp crabs are booming. Take a close look and you can see them every where. Here is a funny one. The little guy was trying to catch the krill attracted by my dive light.

Other things in the canyon were not uncommon.

On my way back to the shores, I came across a rip current. It looked scary on the surface – with fast current moving off shore and a loud oozing sound. So I got down to the bottom and crawled back. I guess the water becomes more uncertain during the winter season.
