Shores Another Night Dive

Headed out to the shores for another dive. The condition remained pretty much the same. When I dropped off at the main wall, I saw a long red string on the wall. Initially I though it was a piece of trash like discarded rope. When I got close, I realized it was a worm. It is amazing how long it was. It was crawling, but when my lights got close, it started to contract and slowly retreated into a hole. Pretty amazing.

On top of the point, I came across a large Dirona picta.

With my wide angle, it was difficult to take pictures of nudibranchs. But with some trial and error, I was able to get a few shots.

Another cool encounter was a pair of Stern’s aeloid. However, they were so low on the slope, I just could not get a closer shot.

On my way back to the shore, I came across a mating pair of graceful crabs (Cancer gracilis).

I saw individuals before the first time for a mating pair. They were initially in the sand and saw the male. I didn’t see the female because it was completely buried. Maybe I was too close the male pulled the pair out of the sand. Despite my ‘harassment’, the male carried the female all the way. It had to pause to adjust the position but it never discard the female.

A great dive!
