Finally Back to the Water

It’s been three weeks of being dry and finally tonight I ventured out for a dive at the shores. While visibility from the report was sub par, the surface was super flat.

I headed out a bit north aimed at exploring the area near the V point. But somehow the current carried me way north and I started at the far end of the canyon wall near the old crap patch. The water was warm and clear, and the visibility opened up even more while I ventured south past the engine block toward the point. The highlight was a mating pair of Flabellina pricei.

There are a few hermit crabs on the canyon ledges. I stopped and photographed one.

At the bottom of the V point, I came across a sandflat elbow crab (Heterocrypta occidentalis).

There were quite a few adult horn sharks near the point. I also noticed quite a few of young sheep crabs munching the tube worms. However, with my macro lens, I could not get nice pictures. But I saw colonies of snails growing on the shell of the crab. I thought that was pretty cool.

I turned back toward the shore from the V point. On the shallow water, there was a ton of detritus. I am glad to finally get a dive.
