It was fairly late when the film festival finished last night and I was planning to sleep in. But I woke up at the same time and decided to check out the shores. I dropped down way south around the boat launch out beyond the white swimming buoys to the sandy flat. The visibility was murky ~10 ft. As soon as I started going to the canyon, a bait ball passed by – not a big one but nice. At the wall, the visibility was super murky 5-10 ft – not surprising for this section of the canyon. The water was relatively warm at 55F. I stayed mostly high near the canyon edge. Nudibranchs, octopuses, fringehead, crabs, sheep heads, and lots of lobsters. As I cruised to the north, the visibility slowly opened up to 15-20 ft near the V point.
I still had 1/3 of the air left but headed to the shore for the baby sea bass. In the 15-20 ft water, I swept the sandy flat back and forth in a pretty big span but didn’t find any. In the shallow, the water temperature stayed in the lower 60s. A fun dive.
