Morning at the Shores

The shores this morning had thick fog and the ocean was flat. Headed out to the canyon and dropped down onto the sandy flat right before the wall. Compared to yesterday, the visibility dropped a bit to about 30 ft with a slight haze. The visibility down the wall was about the same but with much less surge. The water was warm 58 F at the wall. There are so many critters to see. I came across a MacFarland, which was relatively less common on this part of the wall. Another interesting encounter was a flat worm in a capsule – not sure it’s a tunicate or something secreted by the worm. The big sheephead on the slope was super curious. I believe it was trying to get me out of its territory. It approached me with all kinds of facial expressions and strange twists of its body. Then there was many octopuses and a big super shy halibut. Back to the shallow, the water slowly warmed up to 63 F. A great dive.
