La Jolla Shores Night Dive

I was late from the lab and hesitating about the diving tonight, but who could resist the temptation of calm sea and a full moon?

So got to the shores super late. Glad to have a chance to say good bye to Bob Austin, and then headed to the v-point. The sea was calm. Despite the surge in the shallow, the canyon was beautiful. My hope was to see a lot of squid but it didn’t happen. However, it was a surprise to see a Dirona Picta at the shallow.

This was my second time to see such nudibranch – definitely a rare found.

Along the canyon, I was accompanied by a big sea lion and a adult horn shark. Their sudden emerge from the dark could be scary. The horn shark rested on the canyon wall and it looked gorgeous.
