Point Loma Kelp Bed

Today I headed out with Steve again to the Camel Head. David and Sean were also on board. It was a beautiful day with bright sunshine and flat sea. The first site Steve picked was Camel Head. It has a huge wall and amazing kelp. The visibility as amazing seen from the surface but was a bit milky near the bottom. As usual, Point Loma was beautiful with striking colors. For the second dive, we moved another site called Lazy Dazy. It was a nudibranch wonderland. The highlight of the dive was to get many opportunities to shoot Tritonia festiva. It was gorgeous!

Here are more pictures of this kind of nudibranchs.

The MacFarland’s Chromodorid was also very cool!

Here are other nudibranchs we saw.

Fish was also very cool. My favorite is Gopher Rockfish.

I got really luck to find another lingcod, which was also guarding the eggs.

During the safety stop, got some really cool shots of the kelp forestry and the fish schools.

Here are other creatures we saw.

Finally, check out this short video of a school of blacksmith – I took it during the surface stop.

We had wind chop for the return trip , making a wet and bumpy ride home.
