I basically copied Jackie’s report here, as I am way behind updating my journal.
V Street was quite the hub of diver activity, and rightly so with the nice conditions that are back.
We marched through some thick salad in the shallows for our kick to Secret Garden drop zone. The sunset was just incredible and we dropped shortly thereafter.
The viz was fairly decent with some patches of slight milky-ness to quite clear. Tons of baby Sannddollars blanketed the bottom on our way to see the splendid Red Gorgonians.
The mean cold had my hands burning about half way through the dive; unfortunately the tiny pockets of “warmer” water were sparse.
I experimented using Weiwei’s video light as my source, hovering around and filming silhouettes and how the photographer looks doing his thing.
Highlights include the water column being quite thick with “krill”, lots of Cusk Eels, small and large Target Shrimp, Poachers, small Octos, all sorts of Crabs and the biggest Moonsnail. The Brown Shrimp are hilarious, with their transparent bodies, comical eyes, and one who curiously looked into Weiwei’s camera lens, or just wanted to go to the light.
In the shallows we came across a really nice adult male Horn Shark; it looked way too thin for its size; I’ve always seen them bulkier at that stage.
A great long cold dive.
