Ventured out with Jackie and Roger for another night dive at the shores. La Jolla Shores was surprisingly flat – basically no waves. The sun painted a breath-taking picture on the water.

I didn’t take lots of pictures; instead, I was helping Jackie with her video. Here is a few pictures from the dive. Here are a few pictures from my camera.

What an incredible dive; critter diversity was quite the theme, with special critter interaction to end the dive on a total highlight.
2 bubble-makers and a re-breather waded into Neptune’s flat domain and kicked straight out dropping a bit shallow as the viz was nice and the sun hadn’t quite yet set.
At the canyon edge, a small Pyrosome greeted us and we plunged down into the draw. Between Weiwei’s light, and Roger’s stadium lights, I turned mine off again, filming in the cool abyss-like lighting.
The draw was filled with detritus, and the usual suspects.
The canyon was splendid and each critter was a highlight. A nice Flabellina dangled on some grass, a juvie Horn Shark sat on the slope, the large Lion Nudis were feeding, and 3 Cowries hung out near the VP edge near an inquisitive Island Kelpfish.
A way cool Sea Mouse was motoring along at a good clip, its whiskers waving as it mowed down the Sanddollars in its way, then proceeded to semi-bury itself. The Jack Macks were going bananas as a Sea Lion lurked around.
An inquisitive Octo provided some excellent entertainment. It was giving me the eye, so I moseyed on over. It cycled colors, texturized its skin, and curled its tentacles. It half-heartedly tried to catch a Sanddab. It would try to get under me, then pose, and stretch out its tentacles to check out my camera. Just fantastic. Too soon we had to return to terra firma, unfortunately.
