Yukon and Point Loma Reefs

Again, very excited to board Marrissa for Yukon and Point Loma Reefs. Yukon is probably this most known underwater attraction of San Diego and you can easily find lots of information about this wreck with a simple on line search. I dove Yukon in 2008 when I first visited San Diego. The condition at that time was not very good. I remember the site was dark and cold. But today the condition today was perfect – the sea was calm and there was basically no surge. The visibility was fantastic at the site. The ship was covered with giant white sea anemones. We descended along the mooring line right to the side of the ship. Immediately I could see the overall structure and a few towers on the side. We slows cruised along the side and smiled to a few divers who passed us.

After Yukon, we came to the reefs. Point Loma Reefs are beautiful. When you see all the colors and creatures, you will be amazed. The harder you look, the more stuff you will find. I was using a slightly wider lens. So instead of taking extreme close-ups, I could bring in a few more elements to the picture. I felt my pictures were less ‘fish ID’. Another highlight of the trip is that my drysuit diving worked well. For the first time I dove California off a boat that I don’t feel cold. Overall a fantastic trip.
