Headed out with Steve to Point Loma and did two dives at a site between Gayle’s Spot and the Camel Head. The condition was gorgeous – clear blue water from the surface, minimum surge and good visibility at the bottom. As usual, the reefs were filled with nudibranchs. The highlight of the encounter was a beautiful Stearn’s Aeolid.

Although this is a kind of nudibranch that I see very often at the shores, I liked the kelp on the background, making the pictures a lot of fun to look at.
There are tons of other nudibranchs.
The reefs were just stunning! Beautiful kelp and clear blue water.
The pinnacles showed exuberant colors.

Sometime the fish allowed me to get really close.

Cruising around the pinnacles, reefs, and the kelp was just fun!

Here is Steve’s report.
Weiwei G , Peter K , and Allison V joined me for a trip out to South Camel head on smooth seas today.
The conditions were Fantastic !
The water was a nice clear blue and we had 30-40 ft vis in the upper 40 ft and then 25-30 below that.
Water temp was nice and at depth I saw 58º . There was cold water mixing with the incoming tide and it was cool to swim through warm/cold/warm and sea the shimmers too.
I had forgotten how cool this site is and we did dive #1 to the north and dive #2 to the south.
Lots of structure and life .
I think we all got our nudi/fish/cool structure and kelp fixes today, but mine will wear off by tomorrow and I will have to go repeat it .
It did get a little choppy and windy for the ride home , but not to bad.
Great day on and under the sea !
