On the surface, the condition has been pretty good recently with calm seas and little surf. I dropped off at the shallow. It was murky. I started from quite north of the V point without intention to see the secret garden. But I am pretty sure that at about 85 feet I was very close to it, as I saw quite a few ledges and fringehead dens surrounded by muddy bottoms. These structures added quite some fun to the dive, as they hosted creatures including many different types of fish, lobsters, and occasionally unusual nudibranchs. Once I passed the muddy area, I came to the crap patch with lots of eel grass and algae. Like a few nights before, this area was full of target shrimps. Although individuals don’t come together, they formed packs with intentions that I wouldn’t know.
Keep on heading north, the giant kelp emerged. I was at the wall north to the V point. Recently I have seen quite a lot of mating navanax. On the same kelp fond, eggs from different sea slugs were laid on the different sides. It seems like another mating sea has arrived.
There is a section of wall near the V point, which looks like the surface of a big rocks exposed to the sea. Next to it, the floor is covered with a thick bed of sand dollars. I know it is thick because I don’t see anything other than sand dollars below the first layer. This is must be a point where the currents converge, piling up sand dollars that come with them.
