Joined Mike for a morning dive at the Mission Bay. Our initial attempt was to try the outer jetty, but it seemed like a kind of swirl was dwelling around the jetty near the shore. We aborted our plan and decided to dive the Mission Point.

It’s been a bit while since last time I came here. We followed our routine and dropped off just past the eel grass bed. The visibility was about average.

There were lots of bait fish near the jetty. It was a lot fun to search around boulders.

It’s hard to believe there are so many creatures living in this shallow water, like the bright yellow Tylodina fungina.

I also came across a MacFarland’s Chromodorid with bright purple color.

Around the jetty was where the ‘giant‘ Spanish shawls hang. It was so much fun to see them again.

Then I came across Mike. He was so excited and grabbed me to see something. From his face I knew it must be something big – he found a puffer fish! I couldn’t believe it. It was tucked inside crevice and looked lost. The puffer fish must have drifted along some warm current. It was a rare sighting.

After a little while, the fish came out of the crevice. Then we followed it for a little while.
