Point Loma Reefs

This afternoon I had chance to dive Point Loma reefs. It has been a while since I dove the area. The condition turned out to be pretty tricky with a set of challenges. The surface was choppy and the current was hefty. For the first 30 feet, the visibility was no more than 3 inches. I dropped down without being able to find the anchor line. Ascend was even trickier: most of the kelp died out and nothing to grab above 65 ft. The flat plateau where the giant kelp used to thrive is now deserted.

But below 30 ft it was absolutely gorgeous: calm, warm, and clear. Everywhere my light shone, I saw exuberant colors.
