The trip to the ocean started with strong wind and big surge. After a few attempts to find a calm spot, we decided to abort the dive. As the sea to the north became calmer, Steve decided to give Ruby E a try.

The surface at the wreck site was calm enough for all of us to jump into the water. We dropped down at the stern, which was fully covered by strawberry anemone – the signature of this beautiful wreck . After a few minutes into the dive, Steve spotted a few Dendronouts iris on the sand at the bottom. I swam over, and was surprised by how big this nudi was. While we were taking pictures, one nudi caught up another one and started mating. The lighting was a bit challenging with my fish eye so it took a while to get it right. At about 85 ft, I didn’t have too much time to spend with the wreck. The surface was so choppy that we decided to head home. A cool dive!

Yesterday I had 3 onboard Gens S, David A, Darrin O) and we had to turn back after getting almost to the dive site due to choppy seas .
My boat is a low bow ski boat and short choppy waves come over the bow so We chose to return rather than risk the boat swamping during the dives .
We also had 3-5 ft swells on top of that .
Today , Jim R and Weiwei joined me for pretty much the same outcome, with the exception of after turning back, noticing the chop got less the farther north we got .

We found them off the port side eating their favorite food, the tube dwelling anemone’s.
I had a 60 mil lens on and these nudibranch’s are so large it was a challenge to get the whole animal in a shot !
Weiwei had a wide angle lens and I think he got better shots (maybe even two mating) .
After surfacing, the conditions had gotten choppier, so we untied and headed back in ,Happy with our critter of the day .
