A Dive to Vallecitos Point

Headed out to Vallecitos Point, once again hoping to see the red-tipped dorid. The waves were still big and the surface was a bit choppy. I followed the same routine, going from the crap patch to the V point. The shallow water was murky but below 35 ft the visibility turned out crystal clear. However, the temperature also dropped to just merely 50F.

At the patch, an interesting sighting was a juvenile sea hare on a piece of grass. The sea hare came out probably because of the cold temperature.

I was occupied by the mission of looking for the red tipped dorid so didn’t pay much attention to the area before the point. However, right before the point, I came across a large Dirona picta – my favorite nudiranch.

Compared to this time last year, their number was much smaller. This was the first time I saw a big one.
