A Late Night Dive at the Shores

It is Friday and a dive is needed! I was late and had Jackie waiting for a while. We took our time and had a blast diving the canyon. This time we went to the south wall. The highlight was a spotted triopha. The yellow ones are common, but not the orange one with turquoise spots. It was cool to find one.

Had a lot of fun taking pictures of this cool nudi!

There were a lot of cool nudies along the canyon.

And of course seahorses.

On our way back to the shores, we spotted a puffer fish. What an amazing encounter with this cute creature.

Headed out for a spectacular critter-fest late night dive with Weiwei. First, we got pelted by the dreaded Kamikaze fish – like getting hit with bee-bees as we descended over the wall.
We headed south, way south and came across a ridiculous variety of critters…a small Octo was hiding among 2 Sea Hares, a small Sculpin was also hiding next to a Sea Hare, several Sea Horses were out, a large male Horn Shark slithered up a wall, swam, rested, then swam straight up in the water column. Dironas, Triopha nudis, Shrimps, and Navanax were also out. A large tagged Sea Lion followed us, and would really muck things up as it hunted – sometimes it would plow into the wall (I assume to get to a fish) and there went the viz…We passed what I assume was the pipe, about 1’ of it is now sticking out. A sad sight was a Lobster who was missing all its legs, was still alive – not sure what would only take its legs…it was on its back so I up-righted it.
Back in the shallows, we came across a nice Pufferfish trying to nestle in for the night. A great dive.
