When the Navigation Went Wrong

Went to the shores for a night dive, and the street was packed with divers. To avoid the crowd, I decided to go to the north and swim toward south. It got dark very soon so the line up became difficult. The surface became pretty choppy so I decided to drop down a bit early while aiming for the secret garden. Everything went well – I was on a sand dollar field. I kept on moving west but there was no secret garden. It was a landscape I was not familiar with. It was dark and I had little sense of direction.

Soon the north wall emerged. I was a bit surprised but at least I knew where I was. Well since I was already here, I might enjoy it. I hovered pretty high above the canyon and only dove down when I saw anything interesting. The sea anemone alone the north wall was interesting – they stuck out perpendicular to the wall.

A few kicks away was this little red octopus. I liked the pitch black background.

At the end of the wall, I again confused with the navigation. I kept on kicking but the bottom looked more and more strange to me. I wasn’t sure if I was going to the right direction. Thankfully, I had been very careful about the depth so I was far from deco.  I decided to ascend.

On the surface I was lined up right to the shores restaurant but way out. I was a bit scared because I knew that the water below me was deep. I started to kicking toward the shores.

Finally I was in a routine line up and dropped down again. I thought I was going to right in front of the main wall but, oh crap, I was on the crap patch. Enjoyed watching this sea hare for a little while.

Now my air was low and I had to head in to the shores.

It was a relief when finally I stood on the ground. I realized how small an area I actually hung out for our routine dives. There was a huge area out there.
