Headed out to the shores with Jackie and had a great dive at the shores. A cool encounter was a pair of seahorses at the shallow.

Right after I dropped at the canyon, I saw another pair. They are very cute!

The highlight was a flatworm that I had not seen before. Initially I thought it was a sponge on the wall, then I spotted a pair of rhinophores and it was crawling. The body is yellowish and looks like sponges. I saw another one on the cliff of the V point and another three smaller ones on the top flat of the point. I don’t have an ID yet.

Temp: 49 BRR in canyon – major thermo at wall
Viz: super clear in canyon / 10’ -15’ at wall edge and shallower

Waded into fairly calm seas with Weiwei and doing the Stingray shuffle big time – they were all over the place. Nice to see them back though.
We dropped shallow as viz seemed good, and good thing, as we came across 2 Seahorses hanging out together. The thermo at the canyon wall was shimmering, so you knew exactly where to go to warm up, which I did repeatedly as the canyon was freezing, but so clear. Great variety critter night; Seahorses, Brown Crab, lots of Octos, various shrimp, SD Dorid, Panamic Arrow Crabs, Pufferfish, what appear to be Yellow Polyclad Worms, and a Sea Lion eliminating the viz at times. Also the usual juvie Rockfish, Cardinalfish, and Ocean Whitefish.
North of VP, I noticed a few small Kelp blades attached with a tiny holdfast. Hopefully they keep growing.
Made it to the engine block which was full of little critters, but the foraging Sea Lion mucked it up. In the shallows, small Plainfin Midshipmen, Cusk Eels, lots of Swimming Crabs and Brown Shrimp.
