A Night at the Shores

Headed out with Jackie to the shores for a night dive. I copied her report below. A highlight of the dive was a bundle of skeleton shrimps on eel grass. I have never seen so many of them together.

Weiwei and I marched through some thick detritus to a flat kick out, under a clear sky. On drop and in the canyon the viz was surprisingly good. I hate to repeat, but life continues to be sparse, and the topography continues to be covered with the layer of brown algae. There is more macro life on the walls though it seems.
Still lots of Navanax out, and, interestingly, lots of small Scallops who quickly snapped shut upon seeing my light with all their shiny eyes. A few sleeping Sheephead could be seen in the nooks and crannies, the Cardinalfish, and some retreating Ocean Whitefish. In the main draw, lots of Sea Hares in the detritus marching to nowhere. The thermo wasn’t felt until back at 11’. A great long dive.
