To take advantage of the calm ocean, I headed out to the shores for another dive. The visibility was slightly improved. I decided to go to the south wall for two reasons. First, I have been to the south wall for quite a long time so I am curious what is going on in that region. Second, I hope to see less tuna crab in the south and maybe some interesting critters will show up.
I dropped of around the main wall. On the canyon ledge, I immediately spotted a yellow crab.

When I got close, I noticed the egg she was carrying. It was a good size female crab. I followed her a little while. But the crab was crawling pretty fast. With lots of tuna crabs around, it’s actually hard to keep up with her.
After the yellow crab disappeared in the darkness, I continued cruising toward south. After a little while, I spotted a juvenile horn shark, a perfect subject to practice wide angle.

Maybe bothered by me or the agitated tuna crabs, the shark turned a few times but did not swim away. I got opportunities to have a few shots with the canyon on the back ground.
While I was cruising toward south, I could see as many tuna crabs as in the north. Even the vertical wall was densely occupied by the tuna crabs.

After a few kicks, I suddenly noticed a big horn shark lying on the grassy area of the south wall. I only got a few second to snap one picture before it took and swam directly toward me. I used my camera to fend him away, but he turned back and hit my camera again. This time he turned and never came back.

I decided to see what I could find among the piles of tuna crabs. Then this little squat lobster showed up. I have seen them a few time before but normally they are shy and stay mostly in the tiny holes on the wall. This one came out completely and it didn’t run away when the tuna crab started hitting it from all directions.

I was pretty happy to have an opportunity of seeing something new and cool.
Most of the time I stayed around 50 ft water. The visibility was not super but the water was calm. I turned in with an angle and surfaced right toward the V street. A very nice dive.
