A Night Dive at the Shores

Headed out to the shores for a night dive. The sea was calm and the water was warm. As soon as I dropped down to the sandy slope, I came across a box jelly.

I haven’t seen any big jelly fish this year so felt very excited. I followed the jellyfish for a little while. Photographing is difficult because it swung with the surge and the water was gritty.

I kicked toward the patch. Right before the slope, I saw two big eyes glowing in the dark – an angel shark.

For a long time I was wondering whether they would come to the shores this seas. This was the first encounter. I didn’t stay very long because my light attracted too much krill.

From the patch I swam toward the canyon. Somehow there were a large number of sting rays. I guess they were in mating season. All of they were foraging on the sandy slope.

Another interesting encounter was the target shrimp. I guess this was two males chasing one female. I followed them a little while but they didn’t mate. I moved on.

Other creatures were not uncommon. It was a great dive.
