Went out with Jackie for a night dive at the shores. The highlight of the creatures was a pair of San Diego dorids mating on the canyon wall.

Another cool encounter was a squid at the shallow sandy. It was digging the sand with its tentacles. When I got closer, the squid started swimming toward the surface and slowly disappeared in the darknees.

Viz: canyon clear as far as lights – shallows 5’ – 10’ very hazy

Beware – not used to seeing Tope Sharks in the shallows east of 5mph buoy…a 5’ – 6’ Tope Shark almost plowed into my forehead before it swerved off. It then circled and took off. I couldn’t get my camera on fast enough, but it was too hazy anyway. What a sight in the dark as it came from above, so initially all I saw was a white belly (although thinner than what it could have been…).
It was a veritable critter-fest tonight – everything was out.
As it has been lately, it was super clear but cold just below the canyon wall. The Krill is out in force making for challenging filming and photos. A great dive.
