Finally saw a ‘big shark’. It first appeared far, gliding over the canyon. I saw it was a good sized tope shark so didn’t pay much attention. On my left-hand side under the slope there were two sea lions fighting over a caught fish. The fight was intense, their mouth open and barking. I was watching and suddenly the tope came back right in front of me. Now the shark saw my light and was trying to stay away. It made a sharp turn and smashed to the canyon wall. This made the shark more desperate. It twisted its body aggressively and I was scared. But then in a blink of eye it pulled next to me and disappeared into the darkness.
The highlight of the sighing was Cirolana harfordi. Saw them before but they were elusive. I encountered quite a few tonight.
They were swimming in the water column but would make quick descend and drop on the ocean bed. Not a flamboyant critter but the eyes look cool.
Other critters are not uncommon. On my way back saw a baby armina on the tip of a sea pen, the smallest I have ever seen.
It was a bit surgy at the sandy shallow, but I managed to take a few shots.
