Headed out again for a night dive. We dropped off south and saw the sea horse again. But this time there was only one with big belly.

The visibility was low around the area, but still managed to grab a few shots.
The very cool encounter was a morid cod.

Of course I didn’t know what the fish was until it was identified later. I stayed a bit longer to get a few more shots.

La Jolla Shores
Time: night
Temp: 54 brrr felt colder
Viz: nice – some detritus salad 15’ +/-
Surf: 2’ no powerMost excellent dive tonight with Weiwei. We dropped a bit further south this time, on purpose, to find decent viz, although there was a bit of salad tossed around. On the kick out we could feel Neptune pulsing up and down.
We almost immediately came across a nice sized Seahorse..and we had to fake out the krill to get any decent photos/vid…the krill was on a mission to obstruct view, and it succeeded.
Quite a few Hemphill’s Crabs out, a few small Kelp Crabs, small perhaps Decorator Crabs, Pipefish, Brown Shrimps, and Flabellinas scattered about.
Extra highlight critter was what appears to be a Soft Sculpin. Waaaaay cool. I was exploring VP, admiring the Banded Guitarfish on the slope, when I saw the fish swimming casually along the wall. Unfortunately I could not spend more time with this critter as N was accumulating.
The shallows might have actually had a slightly warmer thermo, but the salad detritus density reduced viz to 2’. A great dive.
