The shores has been flat recently with great conditions at the canyon. I headed out for a night dive. There was basically no surf at all and it was an easy kick out. When I dropped down at the lip of the canyon, I was surprised to see many tuna crabs. I hope this is not the sign of another round of invasion.
The yellow crab was still out there. This one was cruising on the top ledge of the wall.
I headed toward the south. At the bottom of the canyon ledge, there was a ton of baby sand dollars washed down from the sandy slope. At one location, quite a few spiny starfish gathered.

Individual spiny star is not a particularly interesting critter. But a bundle of them together suddenly becomes interesting. They are moving – I am not sure whether mating or fighting. And they do have different hues in their color.
I also saw a baby horn shark sitting on a small crap patch.

Then another yellow crab. This is a male crab. I like the close-ups.

Here are a few more shots.
Not far from this male, there was a female tending her eggs. A close comparison makes it clear to tell which is male and which is female.
I headed to the shore from the south wall. A great dive.
