I joined Steve and Jim for a trip to Point Loma. Although the surface condition was great, the condition underwater was pretty bad.
While I was processing the pictures, I noticed a pair of mating nudibranchs on the background.

They have a distinct pattern on the back, which I have never seen before. It turns out to be a pair of Thordisa bimaculata. I wish I noticed the pair then but still a cool encounter.

Here is the report from Steve.
Jim R and Weiwei joined me today for a ride out to one of our favorite dive sites, T-Rex , for nudi’s and found a dive charter on it.
The surface was calm with 2-3 ft swells and very little wind and wind chop.

Waypoint 37..
We dropped anchor and headed down into near 0 vis , maybe 1-5 ft
As I was dropping down the anchor line, I kept thinking that it would clear up , but it didn’t .
Jim and I both found the structure by bumping into it on the way down into night like conditions.
There was almost no light on the bottom and we could only see a few feet even with lights.
The site had some interesting structure that I will have to check when conditions get better.
So much for my wide angle lens ;-(
We stayed down for a dive, but called the 2nd one and headed back.
At least nobody has joined me for dives tomorrow, and I won’t feel bad skipping a day !
Great day on top with a couple good friends though
