The dive condition was gorgeous, but I didn’t see anyone at the shores tonight. It was great to have the ocean to myself. Had a lot of fun cruising from the Vallecitos Point all the way south to the pipe.
The dive started slow. I was a bit south of the point and looked carefully on the main wall. This little yellow decorator crab caught my attention.
While I was looking at the tiny crab, my light attracted tons of krill. Then the brown rockfish got excited hunting its meal.
Moving forward a bit, there was this big sea hare crawling on the cliff.
Then another younger brown rockfish came hunting on the krill. It was aggressive – knocking off everything on its way.
Soon the dust was stirred up and I had to move on. Just a few kicks to the next rock, I saw this beautiful San Diego dorid. I haven’t seen one for a while.
Once I passed the cliff, the canyon became muddy and grassy. Then this little pipefish caught my attention.

It wrapped around the grass and looked just beautiful.
Shortly after, I got to the pipe. It’s been a little while since the last time I visited the pipe. It was an amazing place with tons of creatures. I had quite a lot fun watching this island kelpfish.

Then this fish (maybe a juvenile spotted sand bass or a kind of rockfish).
The on top of the pipe, I enjoyed watching this shrimp.

The color had the taste of tropical water.
After hanging around the pipe for a while, I had to head back. The sandy flat near the south wall was covered with sand dollars. There were tons of creatures to see. An interesting one was this brown shrimp – a huge one.

Then I saw this sarcastic fringehead eating a pipefish. It was interesting.
A nice dive out at the shores!
