La Jolla Shores Before Sunrise

I had a meeting to attend so had to do a night dive in the morning. It was a bit windy but the surface was flat. I dropped early to the shallow sandy flat. It was surgy. Lots of debris were on the bottom but the water was clear, much better than yesterday. Headed to the canyon. My plan was to film the baby black smith but they were not there this time. Then I headed to the south wall for small stuff. The main draw was filled with grass and broken kelp. On it there were lots of critters. The highlight of my encounters include a Cerberilla and a corambe. This is the first I actually was able to film the corambe. There were quite a few stearsi but I didn’t spend time with them. The water was warm 58 F and ~20-25 ft visibility super nice. On top of the wall, in a deep crevice, I saw a massive octopus. Back to the sandy slope, the visibility was initially nice, especially around the sand dollar field. But once I got to 25 ft water, it dropped to 5-10 ft super murky.

Back to the street, while I was putting down the gear, the cormorants gathered and chased a bait ball. That was a massive flock, which traveled fast to toward the pier and off shores. A nice dive.
