Headed out with Jackie for a night dive at the shores. Here is the report from Jackie.

La Jolla Shores
Time: night
Temp: 50 brrrr
Viz: 15’ -18’ canyon standard haze. 5’ shallows north of V street – 15’ in front of V street

All is well again in the world…got some N after too long of Neptune denying entry.
Weiwei and I marched through some sets, ducking a few, though none with any real power.
We finally relented to the minor yet persistent northerly current, and dropped north of the engine block. The red carpet of Tuna Crabs have migrated over to this area.
The super cold thermo hits around 50’and you can see the shimmering.

Highlight critters include many Yellow Crabs mating, many Cowries out and about, 2 Mantis Shrimp encounters, baby Cusk Eels, lots of juvie Rockfish, lots of small Wart-neck Piddocks, and a few small Octos out. The Crown Urchin has relocated itself to a more southerly neighborhood.

I couldn’t find the Cardinal fish den, not surprisingly, the topography has changed a bit, hope it did not collapse. We surfaced in real nice, calm conditions, which had me suspicious. Then, the sets started rolling in. We got out in time, unscathed.
A great dive.

Other than what Jackie reported, another highlight of the dive is the explosion of Dendronotus venustus at the V point. It’s quite cool.
