Merry Christmas!

Dive report from Clint: “Took the club boat up the coast (which we couldn’t see) to Buoy B, vis on the boat was about 3/4-1 mile, made sure we were outside the kelp. Swell arrived early, surge at ski beach made launching the boat a time oriented event and i cringed as the surge hit the wheels of my truck, with the new trailer that shouldn’t have happened! There were a couple holes of sunshine but otherwise very overcast and fog with very smooth seas despite the rollers. Buoy B was nice, where we put the anchor took a bit of a kick to the edge and the structure started at 100′, and we spent most of the dive around 120′ with lots of Gregorian, sponges, a few nudis, red rockfish, seabass and big lobster that were spelling out “MPA” with their antennae! Vis opened up around 85′, 20 ++ Southbound bottom current with the king tide, not much surge Next we dove Quast Rock, only a few kayak fisherman topside but lots of lures and weight on the bottom to add to my collection. Lots (100++) of blacksmith, dozens of Garibaldi, (big lip?) perch, but no big fish, probably due to all the lures, the couple lobster seen were short for sure and were spelling “next season” with their antennae… Vis was 15-20 but “foggy” like the surface. Slight surface current at both spots. Hopefully the storm tomorrow won’t mess things up too bad since conditions were good, and would be better with sunlight!”
