The weather has been really cold lately, making it hard to get out of the bed when the outside is still dark. But thinking of another storm looming on the horizon, I decided to catch the small window of the good condition and headed to the shores. The tide was high, almost reaching the wall of the sidewalk. But the surface was flat and the waves were tiny. I walked into the water toward the north.
Kicking out was easy. I dropped down right before the canyon edge in about 35 ft water. The water was clear with a blue hue and the visibility was stunning. There were lots of broken pieces of seaweed on the sand and one brown rock crab was sitting quietly until I got too close.
The canyon was equally clear. I headed to the south along the wall. Lots of octopuses and zebra fish on the wall. The young kelp near the V point still held strong. There I saw a large scorpion fish sitting quietly on a bundle of tube worms. The fish yawned when I started filming it but I wasn’t sure if I got it in my camera. So I waited and waited. I guess it took about another 30 min or so, it yawned again. That was the highlight of the dive.
