I dropped down to 30 ft water. It was clear. Saw a large guitar fish half buried under the sand. Then there were a pair of hornyhead turbot, one following another for every movement. I rarely see more than one so I thought they might be mating. Watched them for a while but it didn’t happen.

From there, I headed to the wall and ended up at the slope where the engine block was. I went further north to the old crap patch. There was lots of sea grass and it seemed like the patch was back. In one area, a ton of floating kelp and sea grass accumulated. There was a ton of critters out. Lots of octopuses and scorpion fish. The highlight was a squid that suddenly appeared from nowhere. Halfway through the dive, grunions came. They stayed behind me. I had to turn to see them but could hear them all the time.

From there, I slowly headed south toward the V point. As I got close, the clear water was replaced by a thick cloud. Initially, I thought there were bat rays but soon realized it was tube worm spawning. The current pushed all the milky water down the wall right on the north of point. I could barely see anything so turned back from there and headed to the beach.

A few grunions followed me all the way to the 10 ft shallow. Lots of stingrays, lobsters, and corbina.
