On that day I started much north of the Point before wall starts. There is this ledge at about 45-50 ft water which I came across once in a while. It was in the middle of a sandy slope and about the length of a car. This time I decided to stay and look for critters on it. There were lots of cool stuff. While I was filming a nudibranch, a large bat ray swam by. More showed up in the shallow on that day. It was a fun dive. Below was the condition I recorded after the dive.

“6.18. La Jolla Shores early morning The shores was super flat this morning. The visibility was around 20 ft in both shallow and the canyon. 51 F at the canyon and warmed up to 60F in the super shallow. I stayed at the ledge way north. At one point a strong current picked up, gushing down the canyon. Although the warm water was brought in, the visibility dropped. It last a few minutes and then went back to normal. On my way out I saw many huge curators with the shape of bat rays. While at the ledge, a big one glided by, but I just had a macro lens one so couldn’t film it. Back to the shallow, I noticed the most of the sand dollars on the 10 ft sand were broken into pieces. In the 4-5 ft water many bat rays showed. They were huge and in small groups. I snorkeled a bit. Great conditions and a great dive. Oh forgot to mention the bait ball frenzy close to the beach on my exit and a few lucky divers kicked right into it.”
