Point Loma – Dean’s Maze

The dive condition at Point Loma was superb yesterday and there was still a spot on Steve’s boat. So headed out again with Gayle and Marla to Dean’s Maze. Accordingly Steve, the channel at Dean’s Maze was east-west, which was prone to the current. So he only dove this site when the condition was very good. There is a reason why this site is called Dean’s Maze. It has quite a few small pinnacles separated by torturous channels. Each individual pinnacle was decorated by kelp, not as dense as reefs of the other sites.

It was very beautiful but I didn’t see anything uncommon in the first dive. We learned that Gayle and Steve spotted an Atagema alba. In the second dive, I followed Steve, hoping to see it. But unfortunately, Steve couldn’t locate it. But under Marla’s guidance, we found a spot with a few three colored polycera.

Maybe it’s the depth, my second dive was cut short, leaving so much to expect for a second visit.

Here is Steve’s report:

Gayle V, Marla M , and Weiwei G joined me today for a couple really cool dives .
