It’s been a while since I joined Steve for Point Loma Dives. I copied Steve’s report below. It was a cool trip back to the beautiful reefs. I am glad that color and life are slowly making a comeback.
Shaun H and Weiwei G joined me today for a surprisingly smooth ride out to 3 hole crack .
This site is in the train wheels area and has 30 -35 ft high walls.
Others have called it “Grand Canyon ” because of the awesome walls on both sides.
Vis was 10-15 ft after dropping through the green/brown layer going all the way down to 35 ft .
Once through that, the temp dropped and you could feel the clod on face and hands.
My watch computer said 47º !

It was colder than I have seen it in at least a year.
I dropped down the anchor line and Shaun showed me an old anchor, heavy chain and 170 ft of real nice anchor line.
That became my task, to free the ocean of my new anchor, chain and line ..
For Earth Day , of course 😉

This site has more of a sloping wall with a lot of boulders at the base , depths 65-100 ft .
Lots of cool pinnacles at the top of the wall.

In the shallower area 55-65 was full of life on the many structures there.
Critters of the day were a huge cabezon and a full grown Sheepshead.
It was a great day on the water with good friends.
Tomorrows swell forecast in supposed to be 7 + , so no boating/diving for me .
