Headed out with Steve and Jim to Point Loma. The site we went today is called ‘Simply Amazing’. The condition is just superb: clam seas, no current, and outstanding visibility.
The highlight of the dive is to spot Doriopsilla spaldingi, a kind of nudibranch named after San Diego diver George E. Spalding, III. I have never seen this nudibranch before but today found three of them at Point Loma. They look just like the common yellow dorid but with a very distinctive neon blue line around the body.
The visibility of the first 40 ft water was just spectacular. I spent quite sometime to watch the fish.

Jim R and Weiwei G joined me today for a ride out to Point Loma on flat seas and under cloudy skies.
We dove a spot I haven’t dove in a while, we cal “Simply Amazing”
Lots of pinnacle type structure that had 25-30 ft high structure ..
It was a site that had Jim and Weiwei both saying “lets stay for dive #2”
so I guess it was a good choice.
The visibility in the top 40 ft was incredible and deep blue.
40-50 ft vis up top and then below 40 ft it dropped to a measly 30ish …
Water temp was “warm enough that I didn’t check ..
As we ended dive #2 the rain started and obliged us with a fresh water rinse of our gear on the way back.
Heading back out tomorrow IF the thunder and lightning stay to the east..
