More Tuna Crabs at the Shores

The reports lately imply pretty bad conditions at shores. I was hoping the situation might have improved. Headed out with Jackie again for a night dive. The condition turned out still pretty bad. Crabs were everywhere, the visibility was low, and the water was cold. We went from the main wall all the way to the engine block and turned back to the shore. The highlight of the dive was a big halibut surrounded by many tuna crabs. I hope the crabs would retreat and other critters come back soon.

Here is Jackie’s report for this dive.

Met up with Weiwei for another low, low viz dive – Tuna Crabs helped make the environs enjoyable with their seemingly smiling expressions, and beady black eyes, as they continue to litter the canyon slope, and along the wall edge. We meandered from V street to the Engine Block which is looking more and more like a big rock, getting encrusted over time. Luckily there was a welcome thermo as we ascended up slope.
Of few other critters include a lone Octo, a medium Halibut, Cowries, a Scorpionfish, lots of Hemphills, and a Thornback in the shallows. A hunting Sea Lion added to the muck.
A great dive.
