I woke up at 5:30 this morning. It rained a lot last night and air in the morning felt freezing. It was one of those morning that sleep in felt so attempting.

But it’s the new year and I felt excited. It was still dark when I got to the shores. The wind was blowing hard offshore. The waves, although not high, were fast. It would need a little bit courage to get into the water.

The waves picked up a bit when I got into the water. For a few sets, I had to tuck myself underneath. But it was not bad. Kicked all the way to the canyon and dropped at the main draw.

What a surprise underwater. It was calm, clear, and warm. The visibility would easily reach 40 or even 50 ft and the entire draw was open right in font of me. It’s a view that took my breath away. I am not used to dive during the day light. With all the structures on display, I had to orient myself. For a while, I wished to have my wide-angle so I could capture the beautiful water. Quite a few octopus, those huge ones, were out and smacked themselves onto the canyon wall. Fish are everywhere. It’s simply beautiful.

I cruised the canyon toward the north. There were a lot of baby sheep head swimming around. I event got two into one frame.

Those little fish liked to hop above the wall, but very shy. Turning off the light made it a lot easier to approach them.

It didn’t take me long to pass the V point. In one of the crevice I found many tiny cleaning shrimps.

Those shrimps were jumping around so focusing were difficult. Managed to get a few shots.

It was a pretty big slug and I followed for a little while.

Also at the V point, I got to see a sanddab (speckled sanddab), swimming!

Although sanddab is everywhere, this was the first time I caught them swimming around.

Another cool sighting was a few bluebanded goby.

It was fun shooting this cool creature.
